Thanks, will try to find the time later this week – otherwise it'll be Saturday...

Other bits I need are a clutch slave cylinder seal kit and a screw to re-fix the interior arm rest (including the plastic clip in the door frame, if you have one!) – please lemme know...

BTW, spoke to the lad at the garage and it's the 'back box' that needs replacing on our exhaust system, which looks very much like it's a Simons system, judging by the shape of this and the 'main' box, which runs under the bottom of the body (and has taken a few dings cos Sven's lowered!)... is there anywhere to get a stainless version of this rear silencer, given that it's prone to rot? Or will the black-painted one from Brookhouse do...

Funny enough I was discussing making stainless back boxes for the Simon's system a month or so ago. Have had too much exhaust work on to get onto making the back boxes but I hope for it to happen soon

Managed to crouch down and snap a picture of the back box that needs replacing, is this a Simons?

Looks like it could be. Certainly not the original type

From memory, the Simonz back boxes are black with a polished silver tailpipe. The one in your picture is the same size and shape, so as perhaps it’s another aftermarket variant (it's certainly not the original silencer - have a look on the Skandix/Brookhouse sites for backboxes and you'll see what I mean).

I had a Simonz system fitted to my 133 for a few years before the backbox rotted out – also needed a smaller resonator pipe (centre section) to allow me to get clearance to get onto my drive: the joys of lowered cars! Got a nice custom stainless system on there now….

Well, I do bear a certain resemblance to him, now that you mention it! :-D

I'll have a check to see if it's got a name/model number on it, thanks for the advice, as ever, folks!

Yeah, the Simonsz are black with silver, so that may do. Would like an SS back box, really, will have to try and find out how much it'd cost...

There are lots of options for back boxes from Jetex. This worked well for me in terms of a stainless back box at the end of a Simons one:

This is a Maxi 51 in stainless, but there's a standard steel version. Many other back boxes there too.

Thanks, Swedishandgerman, so I should measure the existing back box, to work out which version I need, in terms of the diameter of the pipe into the current one and the length/diameter of the box itself? Sorry, am a proper numpty when it comes to this stuff...

Well, I sent Simon at Brookhouse an email about the suspension bushes and other bits, but didn't hear owt back for several weeks. He then replied, apologising and saying he'd found my email, and asked what we needed – I replied and have heard nothing back again!

I also emailed Dai at Classic Swede about the suspension bushes, as I can't call anyone during the day, and I haven't heard anything back from him either!

I'm sure that both Simon and Dai are busy, but it's a mite frustrating trying to sort this stuff out if people won't even reply to emails... likewise, a bodywork place here in Bath that I asked about getting some paint touch ups done haven't replied either, two weeks after I emailed them!

Feeling a bit frustrated, to be honest... just want to get the parts we need so our local garage can fit them and it seems to be turning into a 'Nordic saga'!
