Default Odd whining noise 2013 XC60 D5

Hi Guys,
Just noticed an odd whining noise coming from the front of my 2013 xc60 5d that is most noticeable between 70 and 90 km/h. The odd thing is it isn't a constant whine - it cycles about every 3 to 4 seconds - Makes like a whirrr-stop-whirrr- stop..... and the sound increases in frequency as the car gets faster but is not linked to the engine revs and doesn't change if I stick the car in neutral. A bit like a drumming tyre but way too slow in repetition. At 100k and over its too quick in frequency and too high in tone to notice much but slow down again and there it is!.

Any ideas?????

My money would initially be on a damaged wheel and imbalance as the speed you mention is when this happens and it would be a low rumble - check for lost weights or a bent rim - especially on the inside where it is more common.

The secondary feeling is that it could be a wheel bearing on the way out.
