The auto cut out was working again today
DPF = diesel particulate filter, its in the exhaust system and captures soot particles in the exhaust, when the filter gets full or at a defined level it goes through a regeneration process, this process raises the temperature at the DPF to around 400°c by injecting a small amount of diesel into the engine while on the exhaust stroke, this raises the temperature at the DPF and burns off the soot,.
During regeneration it is advised to drive over 50 mph until regeneration is complete but the car does not tell you when it is doing a regeneration, as I have mentioned in earlier posts the stop start being unavailable is one indicator, I can also detect a deeper burble from the exhaust when slowing down during this process.
It is also advised to do at least one longer run at over 50 mph every tank fill up.
