S90 sometimes louder
Hi
My S90 D5 (12000kms on it), seems to be loud sometimes, especially when I start to accelerate. Almost annoying. It also feels like the engine has no will for driving the car. Turning the engine on/off doesn't help. After some time (around 150-200kms) it's suddenly quiet and more powerful, accelerates smoothly without any hesitation. Again it's pleasant to drive. For like 500kms, because then again it's weaker and loud. It's like a cycle or something. Is it DPF that gets into the cleaning phase? But, if the engine is it's 'noisy' period ( ), it's also when I start it in the morning, cold, and I guess it's not the time for DPF to start cleaning. This drives me crazy

I have notice a louder exhaust note during a regen coupled with stop start being unavailable but it never goes on anywhere near as long as you are expeiencing, you may have a particularly heavy deposit on your DPF so I cant rule it out.

Could be dirty air filter tripping air quality sensor or a faulty sensor. There are other engine sensors that could make it run sluggish - engine temp, fuel sensors. That would make computer protect the engine.
The way many tuning boxes work is interrupt these sensor feeds and feed signal that allows them computer to run engine at higher capacity. I dont think anyone will solve this for you on the forum. Go raise with the dealer see if they can figure it out.

will do of course, but I was thinking maybe the failure of the sensor should result in a "check engine" light?
BTW you know what the most scary pumpkin for Heloween is?

Not necessarily. It could be misreading oil temperature and running your engine in warm up mode all the time. That is not an error. Just guessing. Wait for Haldex to comment. He actually knows a lot of this stuff.
