Default Moved on the starter motor - damage?

My car died tonight, the culprit being the fuel pump fuse.

Being stuck in a busy road, I really wanted to move the car. I remembered from my early days of driving a friend who moved a car a short distance on the starter motor, ie just put in gear and turned the key.

So I put mine in gear and moved it about 30 yards off the main road.

What damage might I have done, if any? DPF? Exhaust sensors?

On the basis that the fuel pump wasn't working and therefore no fuel was reaching the engine, I hope the answer is none. But I'd appreciate any comments, please. Many thanks.

Starter would be the only thing to suffer, if it still works, you shouldn't have any issues

So many years with new cars you can barely touch I'd forgotten the times I did that to a Landy 30 odd yrs ago. You must have a manual XC90?

Thanks, yes, it's a manual.

The strangest thing about this experience was the looks I got when the starter motor was pulling the car. At the time I guessed it was because it was quite noisy and the car was moving very slowly, but later, (and this ties in with your comment), I thought that most people these days don't know or have never been shown that you can do this.

Just shows how times have changed.
