Good place to start would be the bulb holder Tom - check all connections are clean (inside it as well as out) and also check the contact fingers are actually making contact where they should be!
Very often, especially on bulbs with staggered height pins, people put the bulbs in the wrong way round, forcing the contact fingers further down than they should be. When a bulb is fitted correctly, the fingers often don't return to where they should be as they have been bent.
Also check the lead solder pads on the base of the bulb, these can get dirty but rubbing them on your jeans (across the grain) will clean and polish them nicely.

I'd have a skeleton that sits up sharply (facing the rear) when you brake with red LEDs for eyes, wired in as "eye level" brake lights!

At Heatherwood Hospital, Ascot (used for filming one Carry On film) it was "tradition" that every new porter would by themself collect a body on a trolley in the night and wheel it across the large dark car park to the mortuary.

The definitely alive porter on the trolley under a blanket had a right good style of performance....

Reminds me of something i saw on YouTube recently - "Stupid Lawyers" was the theme :

Lawyer - you've performed a lot of autopsies then?

Pathologist - Quite a few, yes.

Lawyer - Are they always performed on dead people?

Pathologist - Errr..........yes, the live ones put up too much of a fight!

I got so excited with my first post that I put it in the wrong section, thankfully a friendly mod moved it to the correct place

But/and was there a punch line from the lawyer ....

There is a line of questioning that invites a witness to give confident replies only to .... rapidly deflate them. LOL

*****

Now, I suspect some off topic posts. So about the new owner's questions...
