I've had this as well and put it down to the following explanation.

'Cars equipped with keyless locking/unlocking have a touch-sensitive recess on the outer part of the outside door handle.

Place your finger against the touch-sensitive recess on the outside of one of the door handles until the panorama roof and sun blind start moving towards the closed position.

Movement stops if you place your finger against the door handle recess again or once the roof/blind has reached the closed position'

There is a sun sensor on the top of the dashboard near the bottom of the windscreen on the driver's side. As well as intensity, it measures the direction of the sun so that if, for example, the sun is shining more on the passenger side then the climate system will send cooler air to that side even if the set temperatures are the same for each side. I don't think this is linked to the sun blind closure system.

Might be coincidence but the 2 occasions that the blind has closed for me have been when I've manually activated preconditioning using VOC when the car (XC90 T8 MY18) wasn't plugged in. I assumed it was to aid warm up and so minimise time \ fuel (used by auxiliary heater).

Timer preconditioning has only occured(for me) when plugged in and blind remains open.

Can't try ERS as always fails as I haven't had recent software update fix yet.

That might explain why my blind was found half closed. Washing the car with keys in your pocket could have that effect for example as you spray the door handles and the system thinks you've touched them.

It happens to mine even when I know I have only locked and unlocked normally.

Thanks to everyone who has explained how the auto blind closing works, including the door handle operation too

Oddly today, when getting in the car and just about to start the car, I heard a click of the sunroof/blind switch, then about 30 seconds later the clicking started clicking quickly, although the switch hadn’t been touched

As I tend to have the blind away, letting more light into the cabin, I didn’t realise that the blind was closing but in a very clicky and juddery manner, until fully closed and the switch still clicking after that. Even before it had fully closed, I made sure the ignition was off and got out of the car and locked the car, but it still continued

The switch now seems unresponsive, when trying to function the blind, other than a brief sound when pulling the switch down!!!

Anyone else seen a similar issue
