Default MSA 15.8 / 15.9, and what what software to diagnose it?

I have a V70 1999 2.5 TDi, how do I find out what software the ECU is running?

It's got a digital MAF (the one which looks like a microchip with a resistor on the outside) as opposed to one of the older analogue ones where the needle moves along the magentic strip.

This suggests to me that it's MSA 15.9. Is this the correct way to tell?

Also as far as I understad, only VOL-FCR will diagnose MSA 15.8. and VIDA-DICE will diagnose 15.9?

You were nearly there

VOL-FCR will communicate with the 850 TDI and early S/V70 TDI which are MSA 15.7 (square/flap type Bosch MAF)

You will indeed need VIDA & DICE to communicate with the later S/V70, usually badged 2.5D, which are MSA 15.8 (round type Bosch MAF)
