Have a word with Simon at Brookhouse and he can advise or Rob at Amazon cars who used to rebuild diffs. A very specialised task. And finally, leave the wife at home. You will never satisfy them. That is what I had to do and the remainder you will do to YOUR complete satisfaction!! (Tongue in cheek) |

How did this project go?
Were the results good? #### I'm looking to put some similar stuff on my new PV544 Does anyone know if the Dynomat stuff has been upgraded recently? In a forum test it was found to be more flammable than the bitumen based builders' stuff... ...I'm particularly concerned about fire especially as I want to insulate the bonnet.

You need to concentrate more on the firewall and trans' tunnel and perhaps under the rear seat.

Well, with a 2 hour trip, the car is probably tuned, but if not, try spending some time there.
I bought my pv444 about 10 months ago, and not only did the seller say the fumes were a problem, but I could also see his efforts to seal up any tiny holes in the firewall. I gave it my version of a tune-up and really spent some time to balance and then lean out the carburetors. These were dual SUs. The carb adjustments made a huge difference in reducing the fumes. |

Check where the steering column goes through the firewall, also where the speedo cable goes through. Lift the gaiter where the gear lever goes through to the box. The felt here deteriorates with the heat and oil.

It was on one of the Mercedes forums I frequented a few years back. Someone was doing a build and had taken a blow torch to several of the options.
A formal test or a report it was not. It was a DIYer giving it a go. I was surprised to see that the builders solution behaved better than the solution that was designed specifically for engine bays...
