C30 1.6 fault codes

Hi Folks, i'm new to the volvo and have been dumped in at the deep end trying to resolve a few issues with Karens C30.

First of all the the car went into limp mode and came up with a "anti skid service required" and wouldn't rev past 2900 rpm. I had problems getting the OBD11 scanner to connect and read the fault codes but eventually got P0069 (cam shaft position sensor) P2459 and P2002.

From having a read i decided to clean the connections on the CEM as a precaution and i also replaced the cam position sensor which got the car driveable again but the fault codes will not erase and i get an erase fail message when i try to connect.

If i start the car and drive off the car will run fine but if i pull up and let the car idle the Anti Skid service required message comes up and power is limited again. I have also noted the turbo and surronding engine cover arecovered in soot and there is a lot of oil in the inlet to the turbo after the MAF senson. The car has done 108k miles.

Any advice :

Is the turbo screwed and the DPF blocked, i tried to drive it at over 3k rpm for 15 + mins to clear the DPF.

THe lower tube to the DPF sensor rotted through about 2 months back so i blocked it off hence is this stoppint the regeneration cycle. Where can i buy the hose.

Is it worth going to the local DPF cleaning guy and having the whole engine cleaned and if so what is a reasonable charge

From what you say you have the 1.6d? Depending on year some of these have a dpf that requires replacement at 75k as well as an Eloys additive tank which requires topping up. Do you have this?

You say you have blocked off one of the pipes to the dpf sensor, why? How is the car meant to know how much soot is in the dpf now. Replacements via your Volvo dealer.

If the car has been poorly serviced there is a good chance the turbo is also damaged. The car will need to be plugged into a suitable code reader such as Vida that can read Volvo fault codes.

Hi Many thanks, yes its a 1.6d , i think its a non top up the eloy fluid DPF but its early days with the issue's with this car and i have re connected the DPF delta P sensor . The car drives fine but still enters limp mode when left to idle.

This can be reset and the anto skid message goes away but from reading on the forum it would appear this might be linked to a faulty BCM and the dreaded 0130 fault code.

This week i'm going to purchase a iCarsoft scanner for £189 and see what that shows as being wrong with the car. As paying a garage to scan the car is license to print money with little guartee of an effective repair and a possible repair bill in the £1000 + bracket.

My main intention is to get the faults codes deleted and then sell this car as it seems they are very trouble some

Do not buy an iCarsoft scanner.

It won't give you anything more than a cheapy snap on OBD2 reader on these cars. It'll just produce a generic 'same code for every car' code which won't help you at all.

Go on eBay and get yourself a VIDA/DICE kit - It's the same tool that Volvo dealers themselves use, it's designed by Volvo for Volvo and it's the only thing that'll give you proper codes and read out information.
