I like this, but personally, no 3 is a definite NO NO. I always try to park next to nice new shiny cars. Drivers of old, clapped out motors don't care about banging open their doors on the car next to them or how they manouvre out.

Yes, I'm afraid the drivers of the big Volvos do sneer at us 'dutch' Volvo owners. I can understand it in the case of the 400s (hoho!), but 360 basically have the same engines as 2/7/900s!

I get my own back by reminding the guys on turbobricks how much extra power their 240s need to overcome my 3-400kg weight advantage ;)

cheers

James

Quotes for Volvo owners;-

One for the 300 series owners-

'Of course the drivetrain layout is inspired by Porsche...'

One for 66 owners when talking to Micra owners-

'I can't understand what all this fuss about CVT transmissions being new is about...'

For 240, 850 & S40 owners-

'Of course you realise that Volvo won several Touring Car championships with this model....'

For 2/7 series estate owners-

'A great hit with the ladies - especially in deserted beauty spots late at night....'
(I hasten to add that it was an ex girlfriend of mine that introduced me to her 245's long loadbay....)

This thread made me think of a couple of things:

1) Being how difficult it is to damage a Volvo - is it any surprise replacement parts are so expensive?? Admittedly Volvo probably makes millions of space tow ball covers - but they probably only made about 6 or 7 spare front wings.

2) I will never forget the grin on the face of an M3 driver as he watched me slide the 240 round the Heathrow roundabout - the one with Concord on. I linked 2 beautiful slides together - one on the roundabout, one coming off it - in slightly damp conditions - in 1400KG, 16 foot and 133BHP of Swedish mayhem.

3) At what point to Audi TT drivers think they can our accelerate a T5?

I am keen to get myself a 240 to go with the V70 - just because I still believe the old Volvos are cooler than the new ones. And you can hit things with them and it not be a problem.

I bent a lamppost with my 240!!!

Hi, What about the grin as the you pass the car whose driver decided (at the last moment) not to pull out across in front of you from a side road as you drive along a main road in your 2/7/9 series.

Re the parking, it is great to park the 2/7/9 estate in the aforementioned very small parking place with a full passenger load of non-Volvo drivers.

PS why didn't Volvo produce a 340 estate, as I would have bought one.
