ok, time for an update on this.
so after sending those used arms back, and buying some proper new parts, i was a bit disappointed to find they had sent x2 Right only parts! and no left, so another week or so wait, while that got sorted. This weekend I decided to just get this thing finished and out the way, so having all the parts that I needed I put it all back together, including the new tie rod ends that I had picked up, since i found a little play in those too. I tried my best to measure with string and do the tracking, i think it's still out to be honest, but it's ok temporarily. First thoughts having just driven round the block, it all seems ok, the steering still doesnt' feel as precise as i would like, but i think that's to be expected, and i didnt want to go over the top replacing all the steering bits that still have some life left in them. on full lock it no longer feels like it pulls too far into the turn, and all acts normal, as you'd expect, there's no more grinding or dragging feeling, and when braking (have not tried while going very fast) but it seems to brake centrally with no obvious pulling fitted 4 matching pirellis, re-blacked the trim, and give him a quick clean, and is booked in for an MOT tomorrow. soak in some penetrating fluid, and use a metal brush to clean everything up before attempting to take it apart A good couple of braker bars, I did have to buy a slim fit 13mm(from memory) because 2 of the sub frame mounting bolts are blocked by the engine, and you'll struggle to get anything else into the space, ideally a proper slim fit socket+ratchet is needed -Matt Last edited by lixah; Mar 11th, 2020 at 11:09. |

so, bit of an update, the car went for MOT, failed on handbrake, replaced both the shoes, passed.
then had tracking done. have a bit of a new problem, today i did a service, (oil , oil filter and air filter) when i had the engine cover off, and engine idling, i see a bit of spatter, i assume it's fuel from the injector. I can';t tell if the motion of the engine is just knocking the fluid sitting there around a bit, or if it's spraying out a bit of fuel? added a video since it was pretty sunny today, it's quite easy to see. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDqYD5qnOvA i guess i need to remove and replace a bunch of metal seals, does anyone have a guide/information about which pieces i need/where to get them? i know i need a proper volvo injector fitting tool Last edited by lixah; Mar 26th, 2020 at 22:14. |
