Default Handbrake proplems

this is the car

1997 awd V70 16" wheels

I have just spent all day putting in a new handbrake cable in that was easy (ish)

now here is my problem, the old shoes were worn, so new ones orderd which arrived, yes they are the same as the old ones. put the shoes on and I could not get them to sit in the little thin clips and also I noted that the shoes would not rest on the stop.as if they were to big dia, for the drum. is this making sence the cable adjuster is free and not secied or the wheel adjuster, new shoes new springs new cable any sugestions cus im not going to be beaten by a hand brake. really could do with some help on this one.

What did you order (post a link)

I'm guessing that the adjuster is completely slack too?

Double check the old shoes against the new ones, pay attention to the metal ends of each shoe and look for any difference as there are two distinctly different styles, if you try and fit the wrong one the shoe sits a long way out preventing the disk/ drum going back on, it also makes it a pig of a job to get the springs on the shoes (had this on my V70 earlier this year) - Mike
