Default Trip computer mpg accuracy"

Says it all really.

In other marks they are renowned for their inaccuracy. I read here of owners checking the old fashioned way (filling tank, noting milage, filling tank, doing some arithmetic). Has this proven (or otherwise) that Volvo is accurate?

For interest; D4 XC60 showing 46.3mpg.

It is not accurate.

Orange line is trip computer, blue line is real.

Obviously tank-to-tank measurement comes with its own inaccuracies and variations (one pump clicks off sooner than another, different temperatures therefore fuel density, etc), but the point there is that other than one or two tanks, the trip computer is optimistic almost all of the time.

I agree with the above. On my manual V70 Tdi a run to Gatwick and on to Eastbourne return from Bodmin was the only time they agreed, trip51.4, Tank full to full 51.4. Other than thay could be anything up to 5mpg different.

Average consumption in trip computer is never over a full tank, but from when it was last reset.
And maybe also only for a certain time

As an example the Range indication is very dependent on the driving style over the last 10 or 20 minutes

I’ve had an 11mpg differential between the trip meter and the tank to tank calculation. The trip meter to me is seldom correct, tank to tank is always the best for me. I managed 56.2mpg on my V50 2d when my trip meter was saying 62mpg. I was well chuffed with 56mpg and that was in an all motorway run in good conditions at 62mph... I thought I was going to die of old age before I got there
On a combined run to Scotland and back where a fifth of the run was urban and mixed I still achieved 51mpg. In real world, this is a respectable outcome.

I found the trip computer on my Honda CR-V was fairly accurate. I mainly used the same Shell station and tended to use the same pump. Filled up to the third click off each time. The trip computer used to indicate about 41mpg, and full to full about 42mpg.

I haven't managed to work out the trip computer on my V60.

I'll assume here Wombat that in this regard the diesel is the same as the petrol in which case my P1 has a rotary switch to the left of the steering wheel which gives options to display average consumption, instant consumption, distance to empty etc.
