Default door light switch - quick Q

Door light switch in the last few hours has decided it dosent want to work anymore, i already dislike having the door open just to keep the lights on for finding the ignition, but it wont switch the lights on now!

Is it just a case of, unscrew, take off jumper plugs and clean the contacts? Or is it replacement?

Cheers

Andrew

The ignition switch outer edge lights up on mine so you can see it in the dark when you first shut the door.
Not sure how long for will have to check, goes out when you turn ignition on though.

thanks for your reply jeff, I have checked this, but the ring around my ignition barrel goes out with the rest of the interior lights - as soon as the door is shut.

i read somewhere that theres a relay or something unter the drivers dash, i will have a look when i can get round to it ill let you know if i find it.

ill also let you know if the escort switch works.

Ok, its not the door switch, its the wires, i forced a connection, and it failed to light the roof light., the switch i tested with a multimeter, that works as it should. The wires are probably fubared or a relay has gone tits on a terminal. Great.

Still havent gotten to the bottom of this problem, however I have noticed the dash detects when the door is open, and the buzzer is active when the lights are left on and the door opened.
