Electrics: Unusual headlight issue

Volvos in my experience are very reliable, but it helps if you choose carefully and do a lot of checking when you buy.. a good idea to ask what to look out for on whatever model you decide to go for (posting a Q in the right section here helps!) , in my experience you'll get some excellent help on here if your lucky, what are you considering?

My decision timed well with my sister deciding to sell her car (as she now lives abroad), so I've just picked up a 2008 S80 2.4 diesel. It means I haven't had to worry about the driver history and it's been serviced every year by Volvo. So far it drives very nicely. I hope nobody has any cautionary tales for that year/model...!

Sounds like you might have a D5 engine there ?,, great engine and pretty bulletproof if its been serviced properly.. what sort of miles has it done ?

Just checked, it is the D5 - glad to hear it's pretty bulletproof! It's done 64k, although most of that in its early years. It's been sat on a driveway for a few years with minimal use but still been serviced.
