Took the bottom intercooler hose off after a bit of hassle with the jubilee clip. It was so rusted the socket rounded it straight away, and the screwdriver almost took the head off. Ended up having to hacksaw the clip off. There was about 3-4 shot glasses worth of oil in the hose, so I cleaned it out with spray degreaser, dried it and replaced the jubilee clip with a nice stainless one. Just need to keep an eye on it now

Haven't look into it to be honest. I believe that I have to have the studs pressed out which is why I'm thinking into just replacing the hub straight out - plus side there at least I know the wheel bearing is good too

Cleaned the interior out of mud, went to clean the rear screen, lifted the wiper arm and the blade fell out! ATU fitted it as a special deal, but seem to have lost the fitting clip. It works well, BUT I must find a clip before next winter so it can be parked up to avoid sticking.

What's the fitting clip look like? If the car I'm breaking has one your welcome to it.

Thanks, but I have one from a previous old wiper that I can fit.

I find the rear wiper mount is pretty odd on the V40, it's near impossible to find an aero blade with the correct fitting on eBay or Amazon. Or maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. Seems oddest that sellers list them as a full set for the V40 but they don't actually fit, and they seem surprised when I tell them. Still, at probably around £1-2 a blade for the aeros RRP in bulk, I can imagine they're not losing much by saying sorry and giving me a refund. [/waffle]

"Today" (yesterday) I left her at home to think about what she's done, while I took the T4 round to a mate's house for some electricity, and whipped out the half-bulkhead with an angle grinder. Hours of fun but slightly deafened because I didn't have any ear defenders, and have used some muscles I forgot existed.

Process as follows

1. remove seats
2. remove seatbelts
3. try to be nice and grind away spot welds then
4. give up being nice and just slice the fecker out
5. now, with much easier access, repeat 3 pliers and a chisel helped a lot
6. replace seat belts
7. replace seats

8. sand and paint (TBD at our leisure.... gonna be a lot of that over the next few months)

Very therapeutic and helped me forget the woes with the Volvos, and turns out today (actually today) that the costs aren't as much as I'd feared so, yay.

I'm not going to buy Fleabay wipers again, as 2 smeared and the rear one did not fit, so all 3 got returned.

I looked at the wiper arm again and the clip is not missing it has just broken on one side. So now I will have to find the receipt to get a new Valeo (Marked SWF) blade from ATU, as it's well within the first of two years, I can even ask for my money back. If they have a real Bosche one in stock that's what I'm going to do. The wiper blade is fine, it's just the clip that was outsourced to some bunch of failed plastics experts in the East.

I don't use Aero blades at present, as Bosche seem to charge more for them and only sell them in double packs in Germany. I might try them when the fronts fail if they will match the SWF price for the pair.

PS: Great, I can't find that receipt, so it's going to be a hot glue gun job until it needs replacing again.

how expensive are blades in DE??

I paid £8 for a set of 3 aero blades (not Bosch) and that's the going rate. I just swap them once a year instead of every 2 years. Not entirely great quality longevity wise, but wipe well and look good.

Current blades are Bosch and they're squeaking when dry so I do need to change them soon. I've always found Bosch standard blades to be excellent quality but I don't like the look of them on the V40 and the one with the spoiler is expensive (but not necessary, as I've discovered).
