06 xc90 v8 awd kicks in after front wheels spin ~20mph
As the title says I took it in for anti skid service required dash info light when i bought this truck. They got the light to turn off with a software update but after a wet day the rear wheels still only kick in after the front have spun to about 20 mph then BAM the rear kick in violently. Ive searched and have little definitive success. The dealer tried to sell me new rear wheel bearings as he said the abs signal is lost....arent they seperate? and the bearings were replaced before i bought the car making me think this has already been recomended and didnt fix the issue. I need to get the 4wd working before it snows. Sorry for spelling issues my fingers are too big for this damn phone..thanks in advance for any help

How many miles? Any service history for the Haldex system? Are there any Volvo fault codes from the Haldex? Has the fluid and filter in the Haldex been changed?

A Volvo dealer can check for error/failure codes which point to the possible issues to be corrected. I changed the fluid and filter in our '04 XC70 at about 99000 miles and it was black. Drove for 1000 miles and changed fluid again. The Haldex pump may not be generating the required pressure, or the pressure sensor may be failing, or something else. Checking for codes is the place to start.

Volvo dealer computer system will check for codes if any related to Haldex. A generic code reader will not see these Volvo specific codes. If you went to a Volvo dealer, ask for the codes and post. Replacing the Haldex is expensive and may not be the source of no AWD. May be as simple as a pressure sensor or control board within the Haldex. Suggest finding a local independent Volvo garage.

There is a company in the UK that specialise in servicing Haldex systems, but interestingly, I couldn't see any reference to Volvo on their website: http://sjbautotech.co.uk/hampshirehaldexservicing.html
