Wanted: Late 240 Saloon
I’m looking for a 240 Saloon to take on as a project.
I’d like a later fuel injected model which I believe began in 1991, so such a car would probably be registered as a H or J reg? Correct me if I’m wrong. I would prefer something roadworthy, but with work required, anything considered really. Mechanical or cosmetic issues are all part of the fun. I’m in the South near Reading, but would be prepared to travel a reasonable distance. What’s out there waiting for someone to take on as a project? |

Thanks for the info.
I also forgot to mention that I'd prefer a manual car. But it depends what's available. Last edited by crogthomas; Mar 17th, 2012 at 23:49. |

Look to find an early late car if that makes sense.
I.e it has the LH2.4 ECU and is early enough that you can ditch the Cat. You will make your life easier if you decide to go turbo as you wont have the GLT's Mechanical Fuel Injection and you can pretty much plug in some 940 turbo ecu's splice in the resistor pack for the injectors and away you go. When doing the standard suspension refurb you'll need to do, you'll easily be able to make the thing handle better than a stock GLT. So look for a either a GL or SE as i think these were the only models offered. Later this year were doing another 240turbo conversion in a weekend on a 240GLT, but due to many numerous wiring issues with the GLT we are swapping the complete wiring harness including LH2.4 that i took from a 93 240SE in at the same time dropping in the b230FT from a 940. |

Thanks Chesh, all useful information.
An early late car, sounds like nearly every car I've ever owned. They always seem to fall between two revisions and never quite match the wiring diagrams in the manuals as a result. |

I've only seen two 1991 saloons for sale in the last four months. Both of them over 300 miles away. Where are they all?
