If you try another car the only way you will get a true comparison is by putting your tyres on it. As you have already been advised, if the backs are a matching pair swop front to rear and see if it 'cures' the issue. |

Sorted
So incase it helps others, test drove another V60, no torque steer whatsoever, took the sales guy out in mine and agreed it wasn't right. Car been in a couple days and came down to tyres, weirdly when I test drove it , it had two non branded tyres on front that caused it to pull, they changed tyres around but to no avail..
It was pulling to the right on acceleration, they changed just the front wheels this time, started pulling to the left. Bought new pirellis for the front and put on, dealer supplied. What a difference, no pulling at all and feels way better.. result. Would never know tyres would cause that.. Still a light vibration at speed but putting that down to balancing.. Again thanks for all the help and advice, finally happy with my new car.. |

Glad you got your V60 sorted Diddly, and you are now happy with the car. Does beg the question though, how could they retail a car to a customer with a potential steering problem, you mention that the sales guy even acknowledged that something was not right with the handling. To me it just highlights that you can’t always rely on the manufacturers ‘Approved’ schemes, ‘150 checks to meet our highest safety standards’, and no one picked up the torque steer, which isn’t a normal trait of the V60. You must have been unlucky and got one that slipped through the net.

So either this particular check wasn't done or it was done but the problem wasn't noted. This really should have been picked up and sorted.

Thanks I didn't know that, there seems to have been a book of errors with the car, it's a nice car but really puts you off paying for a selekt vehicle that is actually worse than the car you traded in !!

My own thoughts on Volvo Selekt or any other car scheme is why would they bother doing a thorough check ? Clean the car, sell it to the new customer, if there are any problems the customer soon brings it back !
I purchased an XC60 a few years ago. Had to ask for a couple of blatant problems to be put right and over the following month had to go back for 3 further problems, including a new gearbox and 2 new tyres due to the tracking being so far out. I can't help feeling the criteria they use in the annual service report have narrower margins than those used in the Selekt process. Maybe I am just getting cynical in old age. |

I think Selekt is just a visual check and that's it. There's nothing thorough about it.
