Cool DIY Window Tinting

Anybody used these guys to tint their own windows with the pre-cut kits or have any experience of tinting their own windows? Had a quote for getting it done by a service and they want £150 for a call out which seems a bit expensive for a hatch..

Anybody tried tinting their own windows? I've looked into it and it looks potentially difficult to cut to shape and fit however there are pre-cut kits here that look quite easy to fit and are reasonably priced. I got quoted £150 to have my V40 rear's done by a service..

I've never done it or had it done, but I have seen it done many times.Going down the route of pre-cut kits and d.i.y. can save money if you can get it right but it can be very awkward getting a bubble/wrinkle free finish and it looks worse than not bothering in the first place if you can't do this, which if you don't achieve this can mean the need to buy yet another kit thereby rendering this the uneconomic route. Here in town we have at least two companies offering tinting services where they will either come out to you or you can take the car to their premises for it to be done, although how much they charge I don't know, obviously this would vary according to vehicle type and number of windows to be tinted.

I have done it really meticulously. I found side windows not bad to do at all however you will need ‘0’ distractions, plenty of time, soapy water and a squeege.

The issue you have is when it comes to compound curves, any windows which curve in 2 directions, I.e. the rear window, forget it, totally forget it as it won’t happen without specialist equipment.

For reference I change cambelt a, disc pads and electrical components and yet if I have to tint another vehicle I would not entertain it again.

Pay someone to do it properly....
