I know! Diff has to be collected by courier and taken to western europe. From Manchester I've been quoted 70 quid.... God knows how much they would ask to collect it from ur place

Does the car have ABS? If not it will have a 12 count tone ring. If it has ABS, a 1988 744 will have a 96 count tone ring. If you buy something which doesn't have the same tone ring as is in the car, you will have to change the tone ring. Otherwise the speedometer will be way off.

In the US, where I am, used G80 carriers go for as low as $80US. Shipping would be prohibitive.

well in my country u may get whole diff for literally 25quid, problem is that knowledge of em is poor. Here in UK its easier to source it as they pop up on ebay from time to time. Still got some time to fetch it as car is being repainted and fine tuned.

Get yourself to a scrap yard and find a 940 with an 'FT' engine...it should have a 1041 fitted. Not all did, seemingly, but most. Whip the G80 out of the middle of the crownwheel, and it'll be cheaper / easier than removing the whole axle, and easier/cheaper to post.

1031s with the LSD upgrade are pretty rare. 1041s are fairly common...but remember to lighten the fly-out weight if you want lock-up beyond 25mph.

cheers

James

thank u for ur advice, but: I dont have a car so cant really go round scrapyards.

Another thing is, that i need whole axle - as G80 wont fit standard diff, as LSD one is bigger in diameter. And LSD axle is totally diferent thing to standard - its shorter in lenght.
