Default Suggestion on best removable sat nav + mount

Looking for suggestions on the best removable sat nav (e.g TomTom, Navman) for use with a 55 plate XC90. Want to go for as big a screen as possible (so 4-5'), it to be easy to use and update, and if possible have traffic updates. Currently considering Garmin Nuvi 1410 or TomTom XL2 IQ.

Also where's best to mount it without it leaving the obvious "ring" mark? Are there are specific mounts or best places for an XC90?

Thanks

Hi, which unit you end up getting it will come with the windscreen bracket.

You do have another option, if by chance your an iphone user, then there are several satnav apps which 100% as good as a dedicated unit.

Anyway the site I use to buy Brodit dash mount bits is

www.mountonus.com

Hope this helps, see my recent post on iphone/ipad install you can see a dash mount clip holding my phone cradle. They have about 5 variants for the xc90 dash alone.

Have a look at the mounting solutions from Brodit as they can be used for TomTom or Garmin devices, there are a number of different positions you can mount the unit avoiding the windscreen suckers, see Here for the page where you enter the vehicle details to see the mounting solutions. See one of my Blog pages Here which shows how to fit the clips.

As for the sat nav, I would suggest you stick to Garmin or TomTom as both these companies offer map updates for longer term support for the hardware, what functionality is needed, are you prepared to pay annual subscription charges to access traffic data etc??
I wouldn't go for the XL 2 IQ if I were you they have cut the menu options down on that device to the point its rather dumb, have a dig around on the net for some reviews of the hardware - Mike

TomTom with HD traffic. No question.

I use a black TomTom adhesive disc to fix my mount to. You can just see the edge of it in the first photo here.....http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showpo...66&postcount=1

Sorry I didn't include it in the photo more.
