I don’t currently own any of these. However was following your thread with interest. I can see you have also gone over to the 700 and 200 series.

At the moment I am not looking buy will be soon (obviously as these are your threads I won’t buy any that come up on here &#128578 I can see guides on line regarding the puchase of a 200 series, 700 and 900 but wondered what people (maybe you - I don’t know if you are after 1 or buy and sell) views are on ‘them’.

For me the V90 is probably a bit modern for a classic. My own circumstances, as I would imagine it is for many, is that I can do the mechanics but not the bodywork. I work on the assumption that the 240, being oldest is likely to have the most rot. The 700 seem to be a bit more modern, and the 900 are likely to be the newest and most rot resistant. Is that true?

Regarding prices people with 709 and 900s must see the asking prices and think their vehicles are worth a fortune. However many of these vehicles sit for months and months on end where the well priced ones seem to get snapped up.

I always think of the 740 as the sweet spot of the range, emerging, whereas 240 perhaps now established as a classic.

For me personally I would love the idea of a nice 960 with low owners and low miles. I would be willing to pay a small premium to obtain such model - not of your thread however! 🙂.

In my experience the 700 and early 940's actually have the least rust. I broke a 98 940 that was a total rot box and I then sent another 98 down to Luke that was also pretty rotten. My 96 car is pretty rust free ( bit on battery tray and under washer bottle) which isn't bad seeing as it's spent it's entire life in Scotland. I think 960's can also have rust issues going by a previous thread from someone on here that was looking for one.

The 200,700 and 940 are easier to work on as well as they have good access within the engine bay

I’m not in the market to buy and sell. I’m in the market to buy, I love all volvos and want an estate. Be it a 240/740/960. Seeing what’s out there. Ideally I’d like a coffin nose 240 GLT but they are very rare now as we all know. Have you any pictures of the v90?
