Default V50 1.6D producing large amounts of soot

Hi All

I've been battling on another thread with some DPF issues leading to limp home mode and engine codes for blocked DPF and high DPF pressure.

Eventually bit the bullet and a garage installed a brand new DPF, Pressure Sender and Connection Pipe. Car ran a lot better but then threw a code for Low DPF Pressure.

Drove the car about 50 miles and all of a sudden fuel consumption dropped to low 40s, clouds of smoke were coming out the exhaust on applying power and I had a noticeable smell of diesel. The car didn't go into limp home, but was very very low on power, struggling to get up hills.

When I arrived at destination, the inside of the engine bay is absolutely covered in soot. Also the bonnet and tailgate are also covered in soot. I've checked for codes and all I'm getting is the Low DPF Pressure message.

I'm stumped and I've thrown over a £1000 at the car in last 3 months so I can't afford to just throw at a garage and say fix it, without having an idea of what this could be.

My instinct is its over fuelling and that this could be MAF related, but I'm a novice at this, anyone any ideas of a direction I could explore?

I did get a live reading of the MAF, from a Foxwell scanner, with a cold engine on idle of 35.1 kg/hr. Does this seem normal?
