  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

Yes I tried the contact you put on here. They don't do V8 or only one or two parts but nothing that can help.

I also tried some US breaker on ebay.

If you cannot find a second hand unit, you might be able to have yours rebuilt by a specialist firm. I've had this done in the past after I'd replaced the alternator to keep a spare but you would have to go without the car while it was done.

Unless i've seriously misunderstood, the alternator isn't the problem now. From what i understand, it failed in France so he put it into a dealer who fitted a new/reconditioned alternator at a cost of £1k but failed to fit the air ducting on the back of the new alternator from the old one. If it was a recon unit, the original would have gone back to the remanufacturer as a core unit.

I think the problem now is that the alternator (new one) is overheating due to the fact it has no cooling because of the missing air duct.

Could be wrong though!
