Thanks for all the replies.
It was the voltage in the battery that was the issue.
Put battery on charge, connected to car and dash cam recorded all night.
I watched some of the video clips this morning.
Amazing really with the motion detection, bloody dickie birds ketpt it recording by flying onto the bird table lol.
Seems the fuses I picked are ok for the cam.

Regards Steven

Most of these dash cams with parking mode needs a separate battery:

One of the comments on one of these links:

"My friend used to run his all the time on the car battery and after a few months it killed his battery. Car batteries don't like to be discharged at all (it kills them quickly) so it's best to use an external pack like this one instead which doesn't mind what charge level it's at."

The hardwire unit that is fitted to the cam has four voltage options.
You can choose from 11.8 volts to 12.4 volt as to when it switches off the camera.
I have mine set at 12 volts, so when dash cam uses battery power to that level it switches off to save enough power to start the car.
It has its downside though, if you don't drive the car for a few days you have no parking monitoring system so defeats the object.
I was toying with the idea of the battery pack, but $400 is too much money.
So I am going to try the power banks that you can charge tablets etc with.
Was thinking of charging that from the power socket whilst driving then changing the power cable over to use the parking function, much cheaper option.

Why not run the camera from the power bank permanently but charge the power bank only when running - many power banks have both input and output connections which can be used simultaneously. The input through puts to the output whilst maintaining the charge in the battery pack.
