Default S70 T5 Brake upgrade

Ok so my S70 T5 is finally back on road with MOT passed yesterday!!

I need to upgrade brakes and heard you can upgrade to larger discs and calipers from XC90, does anyone have more details? do I need carriers from XC 90 will larger discs fit under my 16" T5 alloys, braided hoses, which fit etc etc? if there is a guide anywhere can someone send me a link please?

Thanks

XC90 upgrade only works on P2 cars I'm afraid.
For the amount of work involved in making it fit, you may as well go for P2R Brembos.

Best bang for buck upgrade for a P80 car really is 320mm discs/pads/calipers from a Mk2 Focus ST and hangers from DVS in Australia.

Shy of that, almost anything could be made to fit, just depends how deep your pockets are.

Hi S70T5,

What size disks do you have at the moment?
302mm is an easy upgrade if you don't have them yet. Reuse your existing calipers, and change carriers and disks (and pads).

What 16 inch wheels do you have? Perfos? They will go over the 302mm disks. Columbas won't.

Bigger disks than that would probably need different wheels, but doingitsideways might be able to help with that info.

theres a few options:

Megane 225 brembos - needs a bracket fabbing plus buying calipers

P2R brembos - needs a pair of my custom brackets and light shaving/editing of the knuckle (5 mins each side) plus buying the calipers

DVS 320mm Ford kit - not bad, but they dont follow the radius of the disc correctly and to me for that money you should expect them to not do that. plus its only a single piston caliper - hardly worth doing tbh, not much better than standard 302s - plus buying calipers

Porsche Brembos - very expensive calipers plus needs brackets fabbing

K-Sport 8 pots - just leave these well alone - manufacturing quality is worth questioning - the calipers swell/bulge under load which not only loses the pedals strong feeling but also isnt very safe. Avoid

AP Racing - Lovely kits - bolt on no fussing - but at £1800 (last time i looked) are they worth it? Plus pads and discs for these wont be cheap being 2 piece discs

all of the above will need atleast a 17" wheel, maybe even 18"

AP Racing have now discontinued their superb kit.... they are not even making the calipers that were part of that kit.

I had been able recently to buy just the calipers for an owner to put together a kit with other suitable components...

Have a google at D2 brakes.
They list kits for the 850 turbo.
Not cheep, through.
I have seen photos of them fitted to a T5, looks good. I don’t know how good the quality is through.
