Default Air box question

Can anyone tell me what the hose coming from the front of the air box is and where it goes to? Mine just has a rubber bung over where the hose would go. Thanks

Hi Andz,

Do you have the hose at all, or just a bung ?

Some of my V70s and C70s have a bung and no hose, and some have a hose and no bung!
I haven't worked out what models have what or what it does.

Are you worried that you are missing something?

Steve

That hose is for the SAS (secondary air system) and it provides filtered air to the air pump below the battery. The pump is active on cold starts and blows air into the exhaust gases in order to heat them up and to bring the catalitic converter faster to its working temperature.
Some cars had this, was more common on natural aspirated engines.
