Have you seen this thread, does it help with part numbers? https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...=253161&page=2

Hi...yes, I've seen that. In some ways it doesn't get me any further.
The existing part fitted is 31303974 and this was UPDATED by 31355462. The Bosch equivalent is indeed 0 261 230 294...but trying to find the Bosch part tends to get you back to 0 261 230 293 (which seems interchangeable) or maybe even 0 261 230 295...but not 0 261 230 296, which may or may not work: it will apparently work in place of 31355462 but not 31303974 which makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and sound like b-s from the seller. Short of buying the Volvo item, which I am extremely reluctant to do because of the inflated, exhorbitant cost, I may run the sensor for a week or two, see if it throwns up an error again and just live with it. The car has 195k on it and there's a limit to how much time, effort, money I want to put in to it as it seems to run just fine anyhow!

If only you could get a high res photo of the current new Volvo part.
I bet it would have some other numbers on there.....

That's not a problem - the issue is that '294 always seems to refer back to 293 (which is surely an earlier part) and some recommend 295....but not 296 which the supplier now admits was an error...so I have to do it all again.
Anyhow, I have now arrived at the conclusion that 293 and 294 are in effect the same part so I'll take a punt on that. https://avs-part.com/part/bosch/0261230294/

One last check via these guys, then it's a question of just swallowing the cost and buying OE. https://www.buycarparts.co.uk/febi-bilstein/13475926

Because I was curious I Googled "Part No. 9G9N-12B676-AC" which was on the label in your photo and I got a lot of hits for a mapping sensor suitable for Volvo cars as well as a lot of others. It seems to be made by Metzger and is widely available. How items offered under this ref might differ from the Volvo supplied item is not easy to tell. https://www.google.com/search?client...aHiDR4Q4dUDCAw

You just may have cracked it ! That was good thinking
Using the EAN rather than trying to chase the Volvo or Bosch part, led me to this https://www.simplycarparts.co.uk/pro...f0baeebe&_ss=r It's my last ditch attempt before paying the premium for EO. Hopefuly this part will be Ok and that'll be the end of it

Solved???
Hopefully, my experience will help someone else.
We know the following: The original part was 31303974. This was replaced by 31355462. The Bosch part is 0 261 230 294 which is hard to find and some say it is interchangeable with 0 261 230 293, others say not. Eventually I found a Febi Bilstein part 103494 which says it is compatible with 31303974 and 31355462 - it even says it on the box. I opened the box....it is a Bosch part 0261 230 293 So there you have it! I've reset the code, scanned it again and there is no warning and no 'voltage out of range' as I had with a previous Bosch part ending 296 I will not be totally shocked if the warning reappears as the inlet/manifold sensor looks distinctly bad, being encrusted in gunk and no amount of cleaning will restore it (apart from which it may simply be faulty) so one of those is on order which is a simple 5 minute job. Other things I have learned, the bumper is a bit of a pig and looking at the clips, the bumper needs to be pushed back and down to help release it. Fortunately those plastic tool marks are NOT as bad as they look zoomed in and can't be seen once the bumper is on. Bit if a saga but looks like we got there in the end. Thanks to everyone for their various contributions

Easy to change 10 mins
Changed mine on 2011 s60 d3 in 10 mins.
Remove triangular pipe from airbox going to front grill. You can then reach down with long extension. It might be different on other models. Also bosch part no on the box says 261230293 and then -001 so I guess it supersedes 294. |

Thanks for your post. I read this and another similar one over on the XC60 section before replacing the boost pressure sensor on my XC70. Your confirmation that part 0261230293 is interchangeable with 0261230294 (the faulty sensor I removed) probably saved my around £100. For info, my local volvo authorised garage wanted ~£250 to carryout that repair, a job that ended up £25 and ~30 mins of my time. I accessed the sensor by taking out the radiator top retainers, removing that short cold air feed tube/link pipe and removing the transmission cooler top torx bolt. This let me kick the transmission cooler itself to one side just enough to get a hand down into the sensor.
