Default Changing right front metal brake line

Hi all

1998 V70 T5 Auto

I wanted to change the right front flexible hose, and the junction to the metal brake line did not want to undo.

I ended up chewing the connector badly then stopped.

How difficult is it to change the right front metal brake line?
Can I buy a complete new line directly from Volvo? or somewhere else?
Or take it off a scrapper?

I don't have any brake flaring tools myself at the moment.

Thanks
Steve

Did you not apply heat to the union before trying to undo it?

Try and get a used one thats already shaped,

when I have bought brake pipe from any stealer its always straight

I had a similar problem with the back rear rigid brake pipe to the calliper. I eventually managed to undo everything with lots and lots of penetrating oil.

I think you may be able to get hold of these rigid pipes pre-bent from Volvo. I was quoted £24 for the bit of pipe from the calliper to the junction at the rear.

Take the old pipe off and pop into your local friendly garage chappie - the sort who is always rubbing his hands with an oily rag and takes a sharp intake of breath through a broken tooth while shaking his head whenever asked to tackle a job - he will make up a new pipe for you. Kunifer or Cupronickel pipe is easily bent and can be shaped to the old pipe before fitting.

If you are handy with the spanners and can change a flexible pipe, should be simple enough to do.

Heat helps, but if you mash the old pipe most accesory shops will make a pipe for you. But you'll need a new 'union' connector to mate to you existing pipe. So a falring tool is required.

Bleed with the nose in the air.

That's what I used on my e36 when I rounded the wheel cylinder

Thanks all

I don't want to end up with a car that is undriveable for long, so will start by removing a pipe from a scrappie and see how easily I can get it off and out.
