Default New diesel engine imminent Sep 2010

Further to my recent post re new or used XC90, I have been speaking to a couple of dealers.

I can confirm that a new Euro 5 200PS diesel engine will be fitted to all cars ordered on or after 13 September this year. There is also a price rise of £500 but less discounts.

The new engine is apparently a little more efficient.

I this still the same single turbo unit? (ie, not the new twin turbo D5?)

It's all a bit confusing it was said the twin turbo wouldn't fit beneath the bonnet.

Mpg figures are exactly the same as are the emission figures. Torque is up to 420nm. Performance figures are not quoted but are likely to be modest. It is really just a slightly chipped version of the old d5 and not the new d5. The only advantage over the polestar upgrade (205bhp 450Nm) is that insurance companies will not treat it as modified ie companies like direct line will insure you

Have just ordered a new XC90 SE with the new 200BHP engine as it's now the only one available. I've scoured the web and this forum but can't find anywhere what the annual VED cost will be for this new engine with Geartronic. I am hoping it will be no more than the £245 for the 185BHP engine and just maybe it might be less?

Thanks... interesting that the direct.gov.uk site didn't give Euro V as an option so am not 100% sure that they have their details fully up to date. However I did select the 2011 model which I assume is the new one.

..............So the duty will be the same. The euro 5 issue does not affect the tax disc. Confusingly the model year 11 came out earlier this year.
