Default just bought my first 144

So I just bought my first volvo. I have a 1972 144E it has a b20f but someone has replaced the fuel injection with dual su carbs. It is also an automatic. I am considering swaping a weber 32/36 on in place of the su's. I have some weber experience as I have one on my 87 honda crx. What kind of fuel mileage will a 144 auto get in town and on the highway? I am already trying to figure out how I can get an overdrive auto in the car but volvo transmissions arent that easy to come by here I am going to check in to what it would take to put a GM 200r4 in to the car. I was also wondering if a bosch 009 dist from a vw can be put on the 144 as my stock dist is vac advance and it is disconnected. If anyone can give me any advise I welcome all input.

The 144 on twin su's set up with a manual box will do near 30 MPG. With the auto box I would say you are going to be looking at 25 ish on mixed driving.

OD auto as fitted to a 240 could be used but you will have to cut and twist the bellhousing. The prop will aslo have to be adjusted.

Have you tried refitting the vac advance?

well i got a great deal on an 009 so i am going to put it on. right now i am having a problem. I just put a new rear main seal in and now my trans wont shift in to 3rd. I saw somewhere something about the governor valve might cause this. The car has been sitting for about 2 months because of the rear main. How hard is it to get to the governor valve?
