2004 V70 - Heater issue and damp in passenger footwell
Hi Chaps
My heater doesn't blow hot like it should, it's really weak. I thought it could be a blocked cabin/pollen filter so I changed that for a new one. See here for some info on replacement, I used a Mann carbon filter: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...87#post2209987 The old one was dated January 2016 and was genuine Volvo so that was nice to see. I'm going to take it for a spin later to see if that has helped things, but I doubt it will as the original filter was in good nick anyway. Anyway, whilst I was doing that I noticed that there was damp in the passenger footwell and indeed a few droplets of water sitting on the cabin filter lid. Water is definitively getting in there somehow. Anyone experienced this before? Do I need to dismantle the glovebox and get to the blower motor, or is it more likely to be solved from above (more likely I guess)? Is it a wiper blades off and remove the plastic scuttle thing and have a poke about in there job? Very annoying how early it get's dark in Winter! Want to get this sorted soon Anyone else had this issue? Thanks in advance chaps Last edited by yoda960; Dec 17th, 2016 at 16:18. |

No heat - thermostat
Damp footwell - no luck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzpaJ4ulRic The bottom cover over the cabin filter box, gets deformed and lets water leak.

If you think water is getting to a/c system I would check these drains.
The pipes below these drains can become blocked which allows water to collect under the scuttle panel, located below this panel is the fresh air inlet to the a/c system, you may have to remove the plastic panel to clean out the pipes , I know on my car the pipes end in a moulded slot shape which allows muck to build up preventing water from escaping. sorry for the poor picture quality all I could find and to dark to take photos |

the thermostat on these cars can still be stuck open with the temp gauge at 12h. worth a check, with cold engine start up if the upper hose gets warm after 1 min of idling the t-stat is stuck
