Hi all
I'm a Volvo man through and through.
Currently on my 4th Volvo, a 2014 xc60 d4 AWD 181.
Love it to bits, but fancying a change (mainly due to an annoying knocking noise that no-one can diagnose).
Been looking at newer shape xc60s and xc90s, but what's the deal with the drivers seats?
They are all really worn, collapsing and look well used.
My car's 88k miles and the (cream) driver's seat is like brand new.
I'm looking at newer cars with lower mileage & most of the driver's seats are knackered?

I think this comes down to cheaper materials and the fact hardly anyone looks after the leather. Many won’t remove the staining from the lighter coloured leather which makes them look tired. The Volvo denim remover and leather care kit does an excellent job. But I have also seen a lot of the newer seats suffering significant wear especially the nappa leather.

Like yours, the cream leather interior on my 2014 S80 is like brand new but I have looked after it.

I have looked after the interior of my Nov 2017 V90 CC D5 P* which I’ve had from new. It has done 91K miles and the seats are wearing very well indeed. Only on the driver’s seat can you see that it has been used as the leather isn’t as tight fitting, totally reasonable (6’4” 100Kg). I treat the leather every 6 months.
I’ve always run Volvos as the main car, this is no. 6 since 1997. Planning that this one will seems through the next 10+ years with TLC.

This is getting very frustrating now.
Been looking for a car for some time now & I just cannot find one with a decent drivers seat.
The one on my 2014 xc60 is as good as new after 10yrs & 89k miles, but on newer cars they are all very worn.
I even looked at a 20k mile 4 year old xc60 the other day and it was much worse than mine.
What are volvo thinking?
Even considering having to leave my volvo loyalty behind and buy a bmw as their seats are usually mint.
Very disappointed 😞.
