Right! Success of sorts. The method described does indeed trigger the alarm so at least I know that's working. On the assumption that the mystery button possibly disables the alarm I'm not going to press it again!

The mystery button it seems may remain just that...a mystery. Until curiosity gets the better of me and I start rooting behind the ashtrays etc.

Thanks everybody!

Now you know how to set off the alarm, what harm can be done by pressing it once to see if the alarm then doesnt go off?

True enough! I'll do some testing.

Slightly off topic but Captainslow, are you still driving a 480? I'll be up in St. Andrews next week. What colour 480 should I flash my popups at should happen to I see one?

Cheers,
G

I am still driving a (flame red metallic) 480 however you wont spot me I'm afraid-I'm off camping on the west coast.

There is another chap in St Andrews with two white celebrations so you may be lucky and see one of those!

Ok....just when you thought it was all over!
Whilst working on one the rear seats which has dropped down I noticed the black wire in the picture apparently running back to the boot. Is this standard? I ask as it's secured with gaffa tape which I'm guessing they didn't use on the original build! I shall investigate further after I've fixed the seat.

@ captainslow. There's talk of heading up that way too so you never know. I'm merely the chauffeur so don't ask me!

Doesnt look entirely standard to me...its easy to remove the boot plastics to check out where its going to.

What colour/year is your 480? I'll keep an eye out as usual but may be in my parents Audi A4 who are coming up from mansfield.

Cool...I'm a musician by profession so most of my life is held together by gaffa tape. Why should my car be any different?

@captainslow. It's a L plate vase green metallic ES.
