Headlamp washers

So i ve had my new MY2018 XC60 D4 R design for 3 weeks but i cannot for the life of me get the headlamp washers to activate. Can anyone advise me on the requirements for the headlamp washers to activate. i've tried we lights in auto , dipped , off windscreen washers activated five times in row, car stationary , car moving ? checked fuse in engine bay fuse box, On my old MY2009 XC60 D5 worked after 5 windscreen sprays with the lights on. i am beginning to think they have been turned off at the dealer.

Have you checked there is enough washer fluid? Not sure if its still the same, but older versions deactivate the headlamp washers when the fluid drops below a certain level. On the other hand, your bumper may have the cut outs for them but not actually have them fitted.

From the manual:

Headlamp washing*
To save fluid, the headlamps are washed auto- matically at a defined interval when the head- lamps are switched on.

Reduced washing
If only approx. 1 litre (1 qt) of washer fluid remains in the reservoir and the message Washer fluid Level low, refill, together with the
symbol, is shown in the driver display, then the supply of washer fluid to the headlamps is switched off. This is to prioritise cleaning the windscreen and the visibility through it. The head- lamps are only washed if main or dipped beam is switched on.

It’s not much help to be honest...

thanks, yes i didn't mention that the washer fluid is full and i gently lifted the bumper cut out and the nozzle and mechanism is there.

You say you have a R design if so they don’t come with washers, only the Pro does.the blanks might be there but according to the price list only the R pro has them

car also has winter pack as well ?? which i thought these were included to.

Yep if you have winter pack you should have washers, definitely need a visit to dealer.

If its like my V90 - which i assume it is - then I don't think you can "manually" activate them. When I put the windscreen washers on the headlamp washers don't normally come on. However, every now and then, they do activate when the windscreen ones are put on - I think this is what the manual refers to - in that it must monitor the driving time or headlamp on time, and then chooses to activate the washers when a certain time has elapsed.

It will be clear when they are on though as water sprays off them onto the bonnet.

Just a quick update, evenually got around to taking it back to a dealer today, turned out that the headlamp washer pump had failed. replaced under warranty, Dropped in a polestar upgrade as well.
