Default Drivers Connect

I've just been invited to Drivers Connect....an initiative between Volvo and Insites Consulting.

I don't normally like these sort of things....but the chance to shape the future of Volvo (I'm on my third so am pretty much bought into the brand) seemed like a good opportunity.

But before I give away all my personal details.....is this legit and does anyone have any experience of this (i.e. is it worth the hassle!!).

thanks in advance

I am assuming there is no intended payment to you for your input.
So, this approach is marvellous - for the consulting company.
They use unpaid and unrewarded people to, as you say "shape the future", and take the credit for it when your ideas are passed on to Volvo.
If Volvo want to find out what people really think, and how current and potential customers perceive their cars, they need only review the various fora dedicated to their brand.
This forum alone contains so much about the cars, their foibles, and suggestions for improvements already - they really ought to read it.
Alternatively, they could employ people to provide this information - Oh yes, they already do this and they're called "Insight Consulting" apparently, and I bet they are paid handsomely for their services.
I say "their services" but of course it will be you, and others like you, who will be providing the actual information.
Call me a cynic if you like, but they're the ones getting paid remember.

I agree. After looking at it in a bit more detail it’s a fancy forum where they ask guided questions and invite members to chat. What a cheap way to collect a lot of data fast. And I couldn’t believe how much personal data people are prepared to share!

Anyway....decided that’s not for me.

Years ago Volvo used to send out their own survey form and asked customers what they liked or disliked about their Volvo and what they would like to see in future models.
Looks like they have farmed it out now.
I remember putting suggestions in for a halo light around ignition switch and interior lighting delay so it stayed on a little while after closing the door, very high tech back then,

When Volvo brought out the S80, I wrote to the designer of the V70 suggesting they create an estate version as their flagship S80 model, since the S80 was bigger than the current V70 estate.

I backed my request by stating that anyone given the opportunity to choose a top of the range Volvo, either as a company car or private had to settle for a saloon since the S70/V70 were in the lower tier.

Believe it or not, I received a reply which said Volvo disagree that the V70 was "lower in status" than the S80 (which is clearly was since it was on a par with the S70), and that they thought an estate version of the S80 would be too big.

Now we have the V90 - go figure!

Maybe they do take note sometimes - eventually
