Default C30, 2007 how to remove spare wheel tray/wet under rear seat

Hi all,

In new to the world of Volvos but in currently enjoying a new to new c30.
One thing is not right though, the boot and under the driver side rear seat is wet.

There is no sunroof.

It feels like the water is getting in on the driver's side beneath the clip for the parcel shelf under the rear lights.
Hopefully pic attached.

How do I get the trim off to check it out? I don't seem to be able to get the spare wheel tray out.

Can any one point me in the right direction?

thanks!

I managed to remove the rear trim under the rear glass, and some of the trim to the side of it. This has given me enough access to see it is the glass bumper mount leaking.
Time to find a new one of those, does anyone have a part number?

Still not got the spare wheel well out!

Hi MJS3,

What are you calling "trim" exactly? Sorry I am not an english native and can't figure it out exactly .

Thanks!

What A coincidence, I also found this thread today and have a '10 C30 with water in the trunk. What glass bumper mounts do you mean? Do you have a picture?

I think the bumpers are the ones highlighted in the picture.

I unscrewed them and they look pretty dry . The trunk itself is dry but I can hear that there is a lot of water somewhere in the trunk (or under it)...

When I break or accelerate I can hear the waves...

And the interior is all wet in the back part (under seats and under carpet).

Hi sorry I've just seen this.
On my picture above the trim I mean is if you are sitting in the boot looking backwards it's the plastic covering inside the car on the vertical section where the glass closes down.

The pic where I say I think this is where it is coming in.

Sorry for the terrible description!

I found two bits letting the rain in....

1) The two plastic 'bumpers' the rear hatch closes on to. This was solved by removing the plastic trim and carpet and then using silicone sealant from inside the boot.

2) Seal around the rear light cluster, this is foam and degrades over time. Remove the light cluster before cleaning the seal and adding a line of silicone or plumbers mait around the openings.

Bear in mind that if there is a significant amount of water you may need to remove the seats and carpet to get them dry. If you do this ensure you disconnect the battery before the seats are unplugged or you get an SRS warning light.

Reawakening an old thread...

Ditto, please post any photos of the cluster you mention and the seal that you have fixed with silicone / plumber's mate.

I too have suddenly experienced water ingress under the rear passenger bench seat, driver's side UK. Removing the rear bottom double seat panel has shown water soaked up in the black material covering the raised floor which aligns with the rear offside and central seatbelt attachments. No water has got to the footwell or boot thankfully.

I also have condensation in the rear UK offside light cluster and suspect the same ingress as MJS3. The boot bumpers you showed were wet on the inside when removing/unscrewing, more so on the offside.

I have owned the car (2.0D SE) from new (Oct 2007!) and this past wet weather has suddenly revealed the horror.

Any further clues or solutions gratefully received. Thanks in advance.
