Default 200+bhp 480 or 440?

Any one got one?
What did you do to get it over the 200bhp mark and what sort of money are we talking?
would I be better off fabricating some mounts or what ever I have to do to get the t5 engine in?
I guess what im trying to say is,would it be cheaper for me to just get a t5 engine or can the 480 2.0 or turbo,or 440 get over 200bhp for similar money to a t5 engine?
Thanks

Ps any links to rear wheel drived 440/480s and 200bhp+ ones would be much appreciated.all advice appreciated too.

you would need the Renault 16 valve head and a turbocharger for that power. But then the transaxle wouldnt last too long ..

Simple answer - bolt on a 100hp nitrous kit - and enjoy it while the transmission lasts.

Any transmissions that could handle the power?
wouldnt fancy nitrous any way, just some thing 2.0 turbo which should be around 200bhp any way, that will fit in there.

You could try to use the 1.7l turbo engine and rich mod it (chip tune). They say power rises to approx. 170hp, and then try to modify other things (cam, exhaust, turbo etc.) to get more power. Maybe a Renault Clio Williams gearbox could take that much power if you could find one.

The 400 turbo already has a strengthened gearbox i would think the Williams uses that , its the torque which the box can have problems with rather than BHP .

Or what about a gearbox off a Renault Safrane Biturbo? It's gearbox would probably be too big to fit on the 1.7l engine, but maybe after modification (some sort of bell housing conversion or spacer)? Or something off a Renault Turbo that might fit

This is the way I think
Think I'm going to go with t5 engine in boot, less complicated then doing cas and every thing and then only getting 170 bhp with hardly much torque.

Good luck with it. Must be an interesting setup having an RR layout in a 480
In my opinion the t5 might be a bit too heavy, so upgrading the suspension is probably a must.... Also that 170hp with the turbo 1.7l is only after chipping it, so turbo and intercooler upgrade would push the hp and torque up more...
