2013 V70 with 7 inch Screen - Any upgrades available

Hi there,

Recently bought a 2013 V70 D5 model.

It has the Sensus 7 inch screen and "High Performance" Audio.

It's also got the DVB TV option (so I can listen to BBC, Dave etc - No video on the move) plus Screens in the rear Headrests - so it plays DVDs and does Bluetooth Audio Streaming.

It also has a USB socket in the Centre console and a remote control. Bluetooth Streaming also, which is nice... iPOD function too, though I've not got an iPOD!

All in all not a bad Audio system - what it doesn't have is:

• No DAB Radio
• No SatNav

My Question:
Are there any upgrades or Software upgrades available for this version of Audio system? If so where and how much?

You can add DAB and Satnav. Soft update dealer is vin dependent

You could. You can't. Now you can add DAB+ only.
Navigation is no longer available, since there are no new maps for the system that fitted cars up to and including model year 2013.
From model year 2014 a different navigation system was introduced, and that's still supported with map updates.

Hi still can. He can upgrade to sensus connect, there is different loom kit as accessories. Or use the sensus with maps from 2020

Thanks - just back from a Trip down the UKs Motorways where FM struggled along the route... I couldn't get it to consistently get a good Radio 1 on FM - despite messing with the Advanced Radio options - i.e. lock onto the strongest signal etc..

Meanwhile I'm still keen to get DAB added if it's at all possible. Which its looking like it has from your messages - thanks.
My Car has got DVB-T (TV) but it looks like this doesn't find Radio stations - I thought Digital TV had Radio?

At the moment also my Wifes XC60 is a 2014 model with DAB - could I nick some parts from this to test things out in my V70?

But does this also mean I have the right Aerial and wiring to add DAB?
I've searched and something online from Volvo calls for "Option Code 683" DAB Prep for the V70...

I can also see lots of Volvo 31409953AC DAB ECU Control Units For Sale on eBay - which looks to be the main unit... between £30 and £70

What would happen if I bought one and tried it in place of the DVB-T unit?
Any ideas? I guess I would still need the VIDA download / Software to the Sensus Connect head unit to make it play?

I also called up an Independent Volvo Dealer today and was quoted £975 for a Volvo fit - seems steep when the boxes are around £50 on eBay...

Quite an interesting project if anyone can point the way or has done this?

It's intriguing me now and I don't want to go down the separate unit "Pure" approach... be great to see if I could do this and layout the information for others to follow...

PS: I've given up on Satnav - phone and Waze works fine... with a Magnet mount to the Dash.

So - rabbit hole officially entered.

I went on eBay and searched for a 31409953AC (after confirming that this is the unit in the wifes XC60 with DAB 2014 model)

I found one I think incorrectly described as a V60 Speaker Amplifier - and priced at £16 plus £3.90 postage... its the right part number so I purchased it...

Worth a punt? I'm also guessing that because my car has the DVB-T option that it has a Digital aerial fitted?

Also attached my Cars audio options... which don't seem to have the prep option code 683 - which I presume is the wiring harness.

It's little more involved. The car config has to be updated, Theft protection removed, and fiber optic connected. In the volvo accessories you should have instalation file. For v40 they made retrofit that has all the parts needed, cost around 150.
