Don't think so, it's a matter of rotating the bearing to align the splines while moving the the axle perpendicular on the hub

I've greased up axel, & hub jacked up to ensure they're level, but cannot get the axel back in. Tried rubber mallet but I don't want to damage cv joints or new hub! A quick job becoming very frustrating 😤 and time consuming. Any hints tips gratefully received

Are you sure you have the correct hub ?

I got caught out with a modified part once, was designed to take uprated splines. Now I always trial fit the bits together before starting fitting them.

Check there are no burrs on the splines, either hub or shaft, if there are dress them out with a file, may need a diamond dust file dependant on hardness of components.
Measure diameter of hole and shaft with a venier guage or micrometer to ensure no interference.

I am assuming you have already tried wiggling the shaft about as you try to fit it. I have found that a shaft may enter the splines but as it progresses through the splines it's angle of presentation changes and it can jam, that angle needs to be changed to align it for further insertion. I have generally done this with the hub and shaft at full droop, before fitting the hub to the strut or wishbone which tends to make things easier to adjust if needed. Once even one component is fixed things get much harder.

On the P1 V70 for example the hub is bolted to the strut and a swivel pin locates it on the wishbone. Fitting the hub to the shaft is a lot easier if done first, then fit to wishbone then strut.

Paul.
