Default 850r lpg

Is there a 'best' LPG system to put on my 850R.

I read a lot about the different systems and how the suit different size/power engines but given these chuck out 250bhp and are high pressure turbo ( upper end lubricant?) where should I look?

Thanks

Hi Steve,

I have converted many 850 T5's and R's over the years and there are only a few systems that will do the job. There are only two vapourisers that I have come accross that can be set to high enough pressure to deliver enough fuel under full boost. There are lots of systems out there and most installers will tell you the one they fit is best.

My current 850 is running on one of my systems very well (as I would expect). There are some questions as to if mine is a T5 or R but it is definatly quicker than the avarage T5 and goes much more like an R but there we have another story.

There is no need for flashlube or anyother valve saver on the 850 and if you were to fit one it would have to be the expensive electronic one as the basic system does not work on turbo engines.

Are you looking at a pro fit or DIY?

When I had my BRC system fitted I requested that the system
Needed to be able to take 300BHP (currently running at standard 245BHP) on my C70 and the system runs perfect. There's hardly any performance difference between running on petrol and LPG as I had the larger LPG fuel injectors fitted (orange type).

The Kind of systems you will be looking at for that would be Prins (not lima) OMVL, BRC and possibly AFC.

What you would be best keeping away from are systems like stag, europe gas and any of the other cheap cobbled together kits.

The main criteria will be the installer. You will good a good installer (quite rare) who has pleanty of experiance with higher power installations and should have converted T5's before. I would sugest you get refernaces from previous customers and idealy if they can show you at least 1 T5 (prefrably R) that they have done before. If not a T5 then at least something of a similar power output.

What you do have to be cafull of is some installers will set the system to switch back to petrol under higher load. As the driver you will have no idea that this has happened as the switch still shows it running on LPG. What you will notice after a hard drive is how much petrol you have used!

Have you spoken to any installers as yet? How far are you willing to travel?

That is over 6 cylinders not 5 - but 300BHP should be easy with pleanty to spare.

400BHP over 4 cylinders is possible (have done) but a bit off topic.

So BRC is on the list but again use a known good installer. You are probably to far away from I'm guessing but I'm prepared to tell you want I know about any local installers to you if I know them.
