S80 2.4 d 2007

Hi all,

I've recently purchased a very clean 2007 S80 2.4 D with 101,000 miles on the clock with full Volvo service history. I've always admired Volvo's & thought I'd treat myself to one! I knew it wasn't perfect and could expect a few niggles taking into consideration the age of the vehicle, but I got the car at a reasonable price & fell in love with it. So far, I've had the timing belt replaced, new rear trailing arm bushes fitted with an alignment, as well as a minor/essential service - All this has been done at an independent Volvo specialist.

One thing I have noticed though & its a tad annoying is when I press the stalk to spray the window washer fluid, the passenger side headlight washer sprays fluid into the air instead of onto the headlight! The drivers side works fine and sprays the headlight as it should, but I'm just wondering is there a way of adjusting the nozzle on the headlight washer so it actually sprays where its supposed to on the passenger side? If so, is there a way of locking the nozzles into place so they don't retract back into the bumper. I was having a look this evening, but they spray & retract so quickly that its hard to actually see how to fix the problem!

I would assume that a small pin pushed gently into the nozzle should allow you to re aim the spray pattern. The nozzle itself is kind of a ball joint so can swivel.

If the nozzle retracts immediately, how can he do that. He's not talking about the screen washers which are always exposed. He's talking about the headlight washers.

My bad! Was thinking windscreen washers. Can you not get someone else to hold the cover open?

The only viable option I can see working is removing the plastic cover that protects the nozzle in the bumper whilst the car is off & having a look at it that way?

When the car is running, if you press the stalk to spray the window washers, the headlight washers wash each light individually & the nozzles retract so quickly back into the bumper that you don't really get chance to do anything!

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if there's a service position for the headlight nozzles, i.e. The nozzles pop up from the bumper & then lock in place, allowing you to do adjusting? At the moment, the passenger headlight washer sprays water onto the roof!

Any ideas?

Should be able to gently pull the washer out by hand.
