Default sat-nav update

Have just bought an S80 SE Lux 2006, The sat Sat-Nav appears to be out of date! i.e. Roads missing of maps etc, How do I update to the latest software? I have read a few posts that refer to downloading a CD via a player in the glove box, I cant find one in my car! Are the CD's offered on E-Bay any good? Thanks

Refer to your owners manual to locate the nav system CD/DVD drive

New map discs are available from your Volvo dealer.
Cheap pirate copies are available from various websites.

Smile Sat-nav update

Went to my dealer who told me that my Sat-nav system can not be updated and that there is no DVD drive in my model! Not to much of a problem I thought till I found the system will only work on Andorra as I live in UK it's not very useful! LOL

Your dealer sound like a numpty. Does he really believe that Volvo fitted a sat nav system where the maps couldn't be updated? So he tells you something really stupid rather than admit that he doesn't know how to do it. Plus the fact that he passes on something that could make him money. You'd be better finding another dealer rather than allowing a nitwit like that to touch your car!

Volvo say "For this navigation system, map updates are available in the form of DVD discs. Contact your dealer for access to the latest available map update." - See: https://www.volvocars.com/uk/support...a801517c751ed7

Not sure I've got this right but I hope it helps.

show them this below from the volvo support web site (https://www.volvocars.com/uk/support...a801517c751ed7)
and ask them to get their act together ... their workshop should have the firmware update disk whch was issued in 2010 and if not they will find it listed in their parts list for the RTI ...
