Default Gloss Black paint for exterior trims

Most new cars have a nice Gloss Black finish to the exterior trim parts and I was thinking of upgrading parts of my S40 in a similar way.

Specifically the front fog light surrounds and lower radiator grille, looks like Duplicolor make an enamel based paint which uses a plastic primer, enamel colour and then gloss UV clear coat to finish.

Anyone tried doing this or have any tips? I imagine these cars left the factory with 'very black' trim parts but perhaps minus the glossy finish so it should look original.

Hey,

I have painted the grill matt black. Simple trim parts should be easier to paint than the grill, just prepare them well. Keep in mind they will be more prone to stone ships tho.

A lot of the trim plastic isn't completely flat which may make the finish pretty ropey without a lot of filling/sanding or other prep.

I painted my fog surrounds when I did cutouts in them, kinda 2 birds with one stone. I bought a special bed-liner type of black matt spray (its thicker and more resilient, designated for porous plastics etc) and results are great - after 2 years still look awesome and no sign of fading.
On other parts (boot plate, mirror surrounds or roof railings) I use the black trim paste as I dont want to hassle with disassembling&painting.

pics below of fogs before and after spray, if its any help?
