NOISY 850 T5
CAN ANYONE HELP I OWN A 1996 T5 EX-POLICE WITH 205000 MILES ON CLOCK, RECENTLY I HAVE NOTICED A CHATERING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT O/S OF THE CAR WHICH WHEN I EVEN SLIGHTLY TOUCH THE BRAKES STOPS. I THINK IT IS PROBABLY THE INNER OR OUTER C/V JOINT BUT CANNOT BE SURE. JUST WONDERED IF ANYONE HAS HAD THE SAME FAULT.CHERRS ANDY(ajelectricals@btopenworld.com)

It's most likely the link bar between the shock and anti roll bar. Quite cheap to fix.
BTW writing in capitals is considered shouting and may be why you have not had many replies. |

Hi,
got similar trouble with a 96 ex-police car. Garage tells me it the callipers that have worn where the shoe's slide. they tried to make shim's, but did'nt last long. guess only replacing the callipers will do. Dave |

Hi there, thanks for the info Dave. Will have to have a look at the calipers but dont think that is the problem as the pads seem to be fairly snug in the calipers. I think the problem could be something as simple as the c/v joint possibly. Will let you know if I have any joy.
