Frustrating vibrations..........
Hi all! - as a relative newcomer to the world of Volvo - I need some help............
I have a 2008 xc90 Geratronic D5 which has an annoying vibration. (yes - I've done a search!) Symptoms: - always when cold, or often after having had a journey then stopped at a service station for half an hour then set off again. Vibration is not speed sensitive , worse on acceleration and felt through steering wheel and both front seats Once underway & warmed up there is no problem - smooth as silk - needless to say the dealer didnt have an idea. It really seems that the car just needs to jiggle itself about a bit to get comfy then it's fine - weird! I was tempted to just put up with it untill something breaks, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thanks |

When you say not speed sensitive, do you mean engine speed or road speed. |

sorry - it's really strange, I would certainly say that engine speed has no effect. Road speed has some slight effect, but certainly not a direct relationship to suggest a wheel weight has been lost
One other thing: - when on tight full right lock on wet roads, the front does seem to wash out very slightly as if the diff' can't compensate fully (I'm on 18" wheels) |

Possibly a wheel bearing or bent/worn control arm ? What sort of mileage have you done?

If you can find a hill, put the car into nuetral and coast down the hill, letting the engine idle, and see if the noise remains the same. If it does then it is related to the roadspeed and could be bearings (suggested), wheels, brakes or tyres. I woould start at tyres as these are the easiest to swap around |

mileage is 11000 - good point on the tyres though - will try over the next few days & see what happens (they are the Continentals)

How about the vacum engine mounts? Is it possible they are slow to start working?
