XC60 or 90? Any offroad experience XC60 drivers here?
Sorely tempted to trade my XC90 D5 Sport for an R Design XC60 D5 or a new XC90. The extra 20 HP in the 205 HP engine XC60 sounds useful, however for £600 the XC90 can be upgraded to 205HP. My concern is that my current XC90 has performed brilliantly and amongst other things, it has towed the boat over soft sand/ shingle and never let me down. The XC60 would have to do the same thing. I had the chance (before buying) to test the XC90 over an off road course which was fantastic. It did better than the Discovery 2 that I traded for the XC90. Has anyone had some off road experience in a XC60?

Has no one taken theirs off the black top yet? The test drive tomorrow will be interesting then...I only hope the garage man doesn't want to come with me!

XC90 off-road is brilliant. Dont know about the XC60 though. I would highly recommend the XC90 but cannot comment with the XC60 off-road, on road its alright, but still not as good as the XC90 on road

The reason that XC90s are so cheap now is that the technology is now old and paid for, hence the massive discounts which would also tend to indicate immenent replacment Take some test drives in an XC60 then get into the XC90, you will feel that you have stepped back in time I am sure that XC90 owners will all disagree with me, but that is the view of a few XC60 owners |

I am sure you are right. The XC90 and XC60 D5 with the R specs I am after are very similar in price 32-34K... it is just a case of getting a price to part x and then it is a case of 'play the dealers'! I believe an XC90 replacement is due 2011/2012 according to the dealer but they say they dont know exactly.

The XC90 R-Design is better than the XC60 imo. My Dad has had 3, 2 D5's and now the R-Design D5 which volvo chipped and remapped for him (if you get Volvo Driver see his register keeper article in the back for a review. I prefer the stiffer ride in the R-Design and think for such a big car, the handling is better than the XC60. Thats my opinion

Are you comaparing the R design XC90 to standard XC60 - not a fair comparison - try getting an R design XC60 R design then do the comparison - I think the XC60 will win
And remember the 'chipped' XC90 only comes up to the standard XC60 for power, and the XC60 has a superior gearbox, different transmission, ...... |
