Default XC90 - UK & Poland maps ????

My 08 model XC90 has the RTi Sat Nav installed ( bought the car as an ex-demonstrator ), but on a recent trip across the water recently, I noticed that when attempting to navigate around France, although the roads were all shown on the map, with features such as petrol stations, supermarkets etc displayed, there was no Street Index to set a destination, so it was pretty useless.

Looking into the menu there is an option to change Country, but I can only select UK or Poland ?? !

I am unlikely - ever - to take the car to Poland !

Anyone know why this configuration of map countries should be installed, and why there is no street index to plan navigation around maps that are installed, such as France ?

Thanks.

Poland comes on a completely differnt DVD/CD than the UK. Your car should have come with a box full of various discs.

For example, in my XC60 I have just had to change for my forthcoming trip through europe tomorrow containing Holland, Belgium (not France), Germany, Scandinavia, Finland etc etc.

UK discs usually have France, Ireland, Spain, Andorra and Portugal on them.

My 2008 was ordered with the sat nav and we can get France OK.

BTW, we didn't get any disc's with the car as it was installed. Should I have the data disc's???

I certainly received a pack of DVDs when I picked up my XC60 that covered the rest of Europe in detail. You change the DVD that is being used in the system to make sure you have the full country detail

I have an XC90 and often travel between France and England. No problems with the satnav. Never change discs. The whole of western europe is on the same disc !! Even went to Finland without changing discs... you just have to type in the country name the first time, then it remembers it in the list.
